1. Purpose of This Agreement
NextBoot Rentals provides temporary access to technology equipment for schoolwork, personal projects, and other uses.
All equipment remains the property of NextBoot Rentals or its designated owner. Renting equipment does not transfer ownership to the student.
The goal of NextBoot Rentals is to provide an affordable, accessible, and reliable rental experience while ensuring that equipment is treated responsibly and returned on time.
2. Student Responsibilities
Students agree to:
- Take reasonable care of all rented equipment.
- Use equipment only for its intended and lawful purposes.
- Keep equipment reasonably secure while it is in their possession.
- Not sell, lend, transfer, or give rented equipment to another person without permission.
- Not intentionally damage, disassemble, modify, or tamper with equipment.
- Not attempt unauthorized repairs.
- Follow reasonable operating and safety instructions.
- Report problems, damage, loss, or theft promptly.
- Return equipment and all included accessories by the agreed deadline.
- Communicate promptly if a problem may affect their ability to return equipment on time.
- Contact NextBoot Rentals about technical issues instead of attempting repairs themselves.
3. Rental Periods and Extensions
The rental start date, end date, and return deadline will be shown during the reservation or checkout process.
The rental period begins when the equipment is handed over to the student and ends when the equipment has been returned and checked in by NextBoot Rentals.
Students who need additional time must request an extension before the scheduled return deadline. Extensions depend on availability and approval by NextBoot Rentals.
An extension is not approved until NextBoot Rentals confirms it. Students who cannot return equipment on time should contact NextBoot Rentals as soon as possible.
4. Rental Prices and Payments
Rental prices, deposits, and any additional charges will be displayed before a reservation is finalized.
Students are responsible for reviewing the rental price and understanding the payment schedule before accepting a rental.
NextBoot Rentals will not add undisclosed fees or arbitrary charges. Additional charges must be reasonable and communicated clearly.
5. Late Returns and Hourly Late Fees
Each rental will have a specific return date and time.
A 59-minute grace period applies after the scheduled return deadline. No late fee will be charged during this grace period.
After the grace period, a late fee of $2 per hour will be charged, calculated in completed one-hour blocks after the grace period.
Examples:
- 59 minutes late: $0
- 1 hour and 10 minutes late: $2
- 2 hours and 30 minutes late: $4
Late fees will be disclosed before the student accepts the rental.
Students should contact NextBoot Rentals promptly if they expect to be late. NextBoot Rentals may contact the student about overdue equipment or unpaid late fees. If the issue remains unresolved, the parent or guardian listed for the rental may also be contacted where applicable.
Extensions must be requested and approved before the original return deadline.
Exceptional circumstances may be reviewed individually.
If the NextBoot representative is unable to meet at the scheduled return time, the student will not be charged a late fee for that delay.
6. Equipment Condition and Ordinary Wear
NextBoot Rentals will make reasonable efforts to document equipment condition before checkout.
Students must return equipment in substantially the same condition in which it was provided, allowing for ordinary wear from normal use.
Existing defects, scratches, or other conditions documented before checkout will not be treated as new damage caused by the student.
Equipment may be inspected when returned to check its condition, functionality, and completeness.
7. Damage, Repair, and Replacement Costs
If equipment is damaged while in a student's possession, NextBoot Rentals will review the circumstances before determining whether a charge is appropriate.
A. Repairable Damage
If equipment can reasonably be repaired, the student may be charged for:
- The documented cost of necessary parts and repairs.
- A $30 labor fee for diagnosis, handling, and completing the repair.
Repair costs must be reasonable and supported by an invoice, receipt, estimate, or other appropriate documentation.
B. Equipment Requiring Replacement
If equipment cannot reasonably be repaired or requires replacement, the student may be charged for:
- The reasonable, documented cost of an equivalent replacement.
- A $50 equipment downtime and administrative fee to account for the time and work involved and the period the equipment is unavailable for rental.
NextBoot Rentals will not charge both the full repair cost and the full replacement cost for the same damage.
C. Review Process
Before determining a charge, NextBoot Rentals will consider:
- The equipment's documented condition before and after the rental.
- Whether the issue was pre-existing or ordinary wear.
- The circumstances surrounding the damage.
- Whether repair or replacement is reasonably necessary.
- The explanation and supporting documentation for the proposed charge.
Accidental damage, intentional damage, negligence, ordinary wear, and theft will be considered individually.
No damage charge will be assumed automatically without review. Any charges remain subject to applicable law.
Students should report damage promptly and should not attempt to repair damaged equipment themselves.
8. Equipment Use and Security
Students agree to use rented equipment lawfully and responsibly.
Students must not use equipment for unlawful activity, attempt to bypass security restrictions or access controls, install malicious software, intentionally interfere with equipment operation, or create an unreasonable risk of damage.
NextBoot Rentals may provide reasonable instructions or restrictions necessary to protect equipment and ensure proper operation.
9. Personal Accounts and Information
Students are responsible for their own accounts, files, and personal information stored or accessed on rented equipment.
Before returning equipment, students should:
- Sign out of personal accounts.
- Back up files they want to keep.
- Remove personal information where appropriate.
- Return all included accessories.
NextBoot Rentals may inspect equipment to check its condition, functionality, and completeness. Personal files, messages, photos, and accounts should not be accessed unless necessary and specifically authorized.
Contact information collected for a rental will be used for rental administration, communication, and resolving rental-related issues. It will not be published or shared unnecessarily.
10. Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment
Where parent/guardian acknowledgment is required, a parent or legal guardian must review the applicable rental information and acknowledge it through the website.
By acknowledging, the parent or guardian confirms that:
- They are the student's parent or legal guardian.
- They are aware of the student's rental request.
- They have had an opportunity to review this agreement and the student's responsibilities.
- They understand that NextBoot Rentals may contact them about questions or unresolved rental issues.
- The contact information they provide is accurate.
The parent/guardian acknowledgment is primarily intended to establish an adult contact who is aware of the rental and can be contacted if questions or issues arise.
If a student fails to pay an amount they owe, does not return equipment, or otherwise leaves a rental issue unresolved, NextBoot Rentals may contact the parent or guardian listed by the student. The parent or guardian is expected to work with the student to address and resolve the situation. Any arrangements or responsibility for resolving the issue between the student and parent or guardian are up to them.
Providing parent/guardian contact information does not, by itself, automatically establish that the parent or guardian has agreed to pay the student's charges.
11. Alternative Contact Arrangements
NextBoot Rentals recognizes that students may have different family circumstances.
Students who are unable to provide parent/guardian contact information may privately contact Henry James to explain their circumstances and discuss possible alternatives.
Students will not be automatically rejected simply for asking about an alternative arrangement. Requests will be reviewed individually, and an alternative is not guaranteed.
Equipment will only be released once the applicable rental requirements have been satisfied.
Students should not be required to explain sensitive family circumstances through a public form.
12. Communication and Unresolved Issues
NextBoot Rentals will make reasonable efforts to contact students about reservations, overdue equipment, payment questions, and other rental-related problems.
If an issue remains unresolved, NextBoot Rentals may contact the parent or guardian listed for the rental where applicable.
The goal is to resolve issues through reasonable communication. NextBoot Rentals will not intentionally harass students or publicly disclose private rental issues.
13. Cancellations and Early Returns
Students may request cancellation before receiving the equipment.
Once equipment has been handed over, students should contact NextBoot Rentals to arrange an early return.
NextBoot Rentals may end a rental if equipment is misused, important agreement terms are violated, equipment is at risk, or the rental can no longer continue appropriately.
All early returns are non-refundable. This applies to every early return, regardless of the reason, including when the student chooses to return the equipment before the agreed rental end date.
Returning equipment early does not entitle the student to a full or partial refund of rental payments already made.
14. Equipment Ownership and Return
All rented equipment and included accessories remain the property of NextBoot Rentals or the designated owner.
Students do not gain ownership rights through renting and may not sell, transfer, or permanently retain rented equipment.
Failure to return equipment is an unresolved rental issue. NextBoot Rentals will make reasonable efforts to contact the student and, where applicable, the listed parent or guardian to arrange its return.
15. Changes to This Agreement
NextBoot Rentals may update this agreement and its rental policies.
The website will identify the agreement version accepted for a rental. Changes will not silently replace the terms already accepted for an existing rental.
Material changes may require students and, where applicable, parents or guardians to review and acknowledge the updated agreement for future rentals.
16. Questions and Alternative Arrangements
For questions about this agreement, rentals, or alternative contact arrangements, contact:
Henry James

Students who cannot provide parent/guardian contact information may email privately to discuss their circumstances. Alternative arrangements will be reviewed individually.
Final Acknowledgment
By accepting this agreement through the NextBoot Rentals website, the student confirms that they have had the opportunity to read and understand these terms and agree to follow the responsibilities described above.
Where parent/guardian acknowledgment is required, the parent or guardian separately confirms that they are aware of the rental, have had the opportunity to review the applicable terms, and understand that NextBoot Rentals may contact them as described in Section 10.
This agreement is intended to establish clear expectations, encourage responsible equipment use, and help ensure a reliable rental experience for everyone.
